Movement is Medicine

  • Dry Needling

Dry needling is NOT acupuncture. It is based on neuro-anatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems using the same needles as acupuncturists. A very fine filament needle is inserted through the skin and into the deeper tissues that are considered trigger points to your pain. Dry needling works by causing a microlesion within the pathological tissue, normalizing the inflammatory response, and centrally mediating the pain. This mechanical and neuromuscular effect provides an environment that enhances the body’s ability to heal which ultimately reduces pain.

  • Cupping

Cupping or Vacuum therapy is another valuable tool in the physical therapy world to help with various musculoskeletal related issues. Cupping can improve circulation, reduce pain, and remove toxins that form over time. The negative pressure created by the suction cups produces tissue lesions that help restart the healing process. The negative pressure loosens adhesions between the tissues and pulls the dead blood to the surface which can cause bruising. This leads to regeneration of new capillary beds and temporary increase in local temperature, oxygen, nutrient delivery, and toxin removal. The cupping therapy will be used in conjunction with exercises/stretches following the plan of care your physical therapist has created for your optimal outcome.

  • Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercise involves movement prescribed to correct certain impairments, restor muscular and skeletal function, and/or maintain a state of well-being. For most individuals, an exercise program including resistance, mobility, and neuromotor exercise training is essential to improve pain, physical fitness, and health.

Common conditions treated at Frontier Physical Therapy, but are not limited to:

  • Neck and back pain

  • Arm pain (including tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow)

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Rotator cuff syndrome

  • Buttock pain and leg pain (sciatica, hamstring strains, calf tightness/spasm)

  • Post-op rehabilitation including: ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, labral repair, total knee/hip/shoulder replacement, Achilles tendon repair

“It’s quite life-changing regaining my strength to walk and stand normally again as well as partake in activities I was incapable of doing before. You really made an everlasting impact on my physical health and quality of life.”
